Understanding Your Harvest Field!

New and improved… we’ve all heard that before. But Link2Lead has made it easier to get the custom demographic information that you want for the communities around your church.

FirstView Maker is easy! Follow three simple steps and click the submit button. Percept’s computers instantly go to work creating a six-page color report for you with your custom title, exporting an Adobe PDF file, and sending the download link to your email inbox.

Within a few minutes you'll be viewing your completed FirstView report wherever you are, anytime of day or night...even in the

middle of a leadership meeting. You can combine ZIP Codes, custom size a Radius, or even draw a Polygon boundary using their simple interactive mapping tool shown here. Check out their brief tutorial on how to place parts of the report into PowerPoint for presentations.

And don’t forget the best part about this is that it is free to your church. CB Mission Northeast has covered the cost because we believe this is an important tool to help our churches understand the changes in the communities they are to reach with the gospel. However this is the final year of our contract and this free service will end in December. Does Your Pastor Need a Time of Renewal? A Sabbatical?

National Clergy Renewal Program

Recognizing the importance and necessity for busy pastors to have an opportunity to take an extended break for renewal and refreshment, in 2000, Lilly Endowment introduced a new competitive grants program. In the National Clergy Renewal Program, the Endowment annually provides as many as 120 grants of up to $45,000 each directly to Christian congregations for the support of a renewal program for their pastor. At the center of the congregation is the pastor. In season and out, he is called upon to lead communities to the life-giving waters of God. The job is demanding, and pastors perform their duties among a dizzying array of requests and expectations.

Lilly Endowment seeks to strengthen congregations by providing an opportunity for pastors to step away briefly from the persistent obligations of church life and to engage in a period of renewal and reflection. Deadline for submission of proposals is May 14, 2008. Notification of grant awards will be made by October 2008. For a review of the program visit the Lilly Endowment website: http://www.clergyrenewal.org/.

Tax Tips for Pastors

Free Tax Preparation

The IRS has special rules for filing the taxes of pastors. A helpful booklet by Stewardship Services Foundation (SSF) provides clear and concise explanations for both the pastor and his church in the special requirements for filing taxes. This free booklet is available for download from their website. Their website also has a wealth of information on financial concerns for pastors and churches. SSF will also prepare the taxes for clergy free of charge. The deadline for submitting the information for this service is March 30th Follow the link on our website:

The IRS also set the Standard Mileage Rate for Business Miles for 2008 at 50.5 cents per mile (up from 48.5 cents per mile in 2007).

Meet Me at the Gate Seminar

By Dr. Roger Haber, Pastor, Central Baptist Church, Middleborough MA

Manny Mill was on the FBI most wanted list. He came to know Jesus Christ and was the first Colson Scholar at Wheaton College. He now directs a post-prison ministry called KOINONIA

HOUSE INTERNATIONAL MINISTRIES of which I am privileged to serve on the Board.

Manny, and his associate, Jasper Lukose will be with us on April 9, 2008 for a MEET ME AT THE GATE SEMINAR. One of the most needed places to minister today is in our prisons and jails. We have chaplains who minister inside, but what happens when a believer is released? This seminar will help equip people and churches to welcome a brother or sister in Christ in Jesus' name.

If you would like details about the seminar that we will be hosting, please go to our church web page, http://www.cbcmiddleboro.org and on the home page go to the upper right corner and you'll find a link to the registration page.

Remember to forward Leader to Leader on to your leaders or better
yet, sign them up
to receive it themselves!
