Introducing Leader to Leader

Welcome to the first edition of a new publication of CBMNE for leaders of CB churches. Synergy is published three to four times a year to highlight for the “person in the pew” what the Lord is doing across our region in our CB churches. A new publication is needed to share other information with the leaders of our churches. The content will be geared for pastors, elders, deacons, and other leaders of our CB churches. Your help is needed in two ways:

1.Get this into the hands of your leaders. If you send us a list of your leader’s email addresses we will send it directly to them. Or you can forward this email to them yourself or print it out and distribute it at your leaders’ meetings.

2.The title Leader to Leader is meant to capture the interaction we hope to generate between the leaders of our CB churches with each other. We hope you will share with us the things the Lord is doing to advance His kingdom through your church. You can also share a struggle or question that you face as a leader of your church and benefit from the tremendous wisdom and experience of other leaders in our CB family.

Our goal is to encourage and edify one another as leaders. So share what the Lord is doing, a resource you’ve found helpful, or a problem that is perplexing. Let’s help one another, leader to leader.*

Book Review: And the Place was Shaken, by John Franklin

“How to lead a powerful prayer meeting” is the subtitle to this excellent book on prayer. In the preface the author writes: “This is a book for those who lead prayer meetings. It is not a general book on prayer. I am supposing that you, as a prayer leader, already know how to pray and understand the principles of prayer. You know that prayer cannot be manipulated or regimented, but you also recognize that prayer meetings have their own very practical problems. You want to be an instrument in God’s hand that leads his people to experience his manifold presence as they gather before the throne of grace.” This book provides very practical help on how to do accomplish this.

The 192 pages are divided into eight chapters: 1)The Priority of Praying Together, 2) What makes a Prayer Meeting Dynamic?, 3) Your Four Responsibilities, 4) Designing a God-Centered Format 5) Guiding Activities that Involve People, 6) Shepherding the People of God, 7) Discerning the Activity of God, 8) Making the Transition. The book is published by Broadman & Holman, © 2005.
