the proposed revisions to our By-laws at the link at the bottom of
this page.
We
appreciate the feedback from our clusters which resulted in several
refinements of the proposed revisions.
The major
change from the rough draft sent to the clusters last Spring is a
change of the make-up of the Executive Board. The Executive Board
decided not to pursue the “Zone Leader” concept at this time. As you
will notice the initial make-up of the board will be the cluster
leaders.
We look
forward to discovering how the Lord will continue to shape us in the
days ahead as we continue to work together for fruitful ministry.
The Executive
Board approved these proposed revisions to the Bylaws of CB
Mission Northeast at their meeting on May 21, 2007 and is
recommending their adoption by our association at the Annual
Meeting at Word of Life, October 1-3, 2007.
Because of the vital importance of any amendment to the Bylaws
messengers voting must possess written credentials from their local
churches (Article XII, Section 2). Each affiliated church shall be
entitled to have two messengers for the first 25 active resident
members, one messenger for each additional 25 resident members to
the first 100 members; and one additional messenger for each
additional 100 active resident members or fraction thereof. Each
church shall send credentials with its messengers on forms provided
by the Mission. (Article III, Section 2). A three-fourths (3/4)
affirmative vote of credentialed messengers present and voting shall
be required to approve a proposed change to the Bylaws (Article XII,
Section 2).

There are two types of changes proposed.
-
AMENDMENTS:
The Gray shading and
green type are AMENDMENTS to
the bylaws. These are permanent changes being proposed. There
are 5 Amendments proposed (see pages 4, 6, 8, 13).
-
ABEYANCE:
The areas shaded in Yellow
are the parts of the bylaws proposed to be placed in
abeyance so that the
board may experiment with structures to see how they help. The
red lettered changes are how we
propose to initially address these issues.
The board may make adjustments to the
red lettered areas several times in an attempt to
discover what is effective and fruitful for ministry. The
red areas will expire at the end
of 2010 and revert back to the original reading (the
yellow shading) unless a formal amendment is approved in
keeping with the bylaws.
